Frequently asked questions

Why not just use chess.com’s coach or an AI assistant?

Chess.com’s coach and analysis only know the game. They haven’t learned how you think. An AI assistant starts from scratch every time. Rukh is being built as a coach you go back and forth with, and it learns from every conversation, every lesson and every move you play with it, so it brings up what to work on next, without being asked.

Do I need to sign up?

Not for the preview. Type your chess.com username for a quick look at your openings. Sign in when you want Rukh to keep your results and learn from you.

What does signing in do?

Once the coach launches, signing in lets Rukh save your analysis, lessons and sessions to your account and build on them every time. Without signing in, nothing is saved to you, so there is nothing for Rukh to learn from.

What does Rukh read?

Your public games on chess.com from the last six months. It never asks for your password and can’t see anything private.

How much does it cost?

The preview is free. The coach starts with a one-week free trial, then continues as a paid subscription. Join the waitlist to be first in line for your trial.

Can someone else look up my username?

For the preview, yes. It uses public games, so anyone can look up any username, and nothing is saved to a profile. Your saved coaching data will be private to your account.

Does it work with Lichess?

Right now Rukh works with chess.com only. Lichess support is planned for the future.
